Discuss Progress on Action Items Since Last Meeting
Thermometer Development
A diagram of the thermometer was provided. Our first goal is to reach $1 million, our second goal is $2.5 million to reoccupy the church, the third goal is to have the roof completely repaired at $6.75 million. $18 million will bring the church up to current seismic standards and $20 million will totally restore the church inside and out. The figures are tentative and based on the AD goals and assessments.
Logo Design and Letterhead
Three logo designs were presented. The majority liked the third logo the best. We agreed to use it and to let someone redesign, refine and improve as they see fit so we could get bids ASAP for tee shirts.
Fundraising Plan/Update – Where do we go from here?
Campaigning ideas:
- Our community loves this church, not just the Catholic community.
- Second assessments on the church.
- Oktoberfest-ball throwing event which would be easy and cheap with a lot of kid playing events.
- Having a basilica bloc party event / bands / community sustaining the community theme / food / vendors / bracelets / $60.00 / Tacoma Dome or Le May.
- Having a Kris Kringle celebration.
Bulletin Advertising
- We are advertising in the bulletins at Holy Rosary, St. Joseph, and Visitation currently.
- Our next target bulletins will be Holy Cross, St. Rita’s and St. Charles. We want to gauge the impact we think the advertisement is having before moving forward because it is expensive.
- We want to check on the cost of advertising in the Northwest Catholic Magazine.
Social Media
Facebook response is great. 15 hundred people have visited the site! Ready to share post.
Meeting Location Change
Our next meeting is planned to be held at the Holy Rosary (CMC / Convent Meeting Center) at 6:30 – 7:30 pm on June 27th. Please be sure to note the time and location when a reminder e-mail is sent.
Attorney for Pro Bono work
We have accepted the offer of a community member to do work for our group pro bono.
Report on Board Meeting June 12th with Deacon at Holy Rosary
- We have permission to conduct our STLC meetings at the CMC.
- We are trying to build trust and indicate to the AD that our intentions are good.
- Our intentions are that we are a poor parish coming together to try to save our church for our community.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm.
Our next meeting will be held on June 27th at the CMC from 6:30 to 7:30 pm with an invitation to arrive earlier at 6 pm.
