Testimonial: Our Church, Our Community

My husband Tom and I started attending Mass at Holy Rosary about 25 years ago. The reason we went is because it was a perfect beautiful church and time (8 am) for us to have an hour together with God and to be inspired by the homily and still be able to take care of our weekend chores.

We retired around 2014 and I became a caretaker for my Father. We had extra time and joined and restarted the Saint Vincent de Paul Conference at Holy Rosary. Last year we helped at least 320 families / individuals. If Holy Rosary closes its doors, our program will end.

Our relationship with the clergy, employees and parishioners has grown over the years, so much so that we consider them our extended family.

The history that the parishioners have shared with us is so amazing, the people that just want to come in to see the beautiful architecture, look at the focal point all the way down Tacoma Ave. We really do not have anything to be proud of as far as historical buildings in East / South Tacoma. We love this building, history and the many people that we have met that are interested in helping to save this structure.

Again, our extended family grows with others that we have met that want to help save the church that were past members who have opted to become a member of another Catholic church or are just members of the community. This church is our livelihood and supports many local businesses and families. We would be lost with out it.

We are so blessed to have met all of you.

Thanks,

Vickie Cornwall
