Press Release: Community Residents Unite to Save 99 Year-old Historic Landmark

Across Tacoma, residents have joined together to save beloved Holy Rosary Church. Parts of the church are in dangerous condition following a decade of changing leadership and deferred maintenance. Historic Tacoma’s Watch List (historictacoma.org) lists the church as “threatened”, its most critical rating. The Archdiocese of Seattle has issued a preliminary estimate of $10 million to fully restore the building.

Notre Dame Cathedral’s dreadful after-hours fire Monday was an inferno felt across the globe.

From the banks of the Seine River to living rooms in the South Sound, people mourned damage to religious artifacts, 800-year-old roof beams and the fallen 19th Century spire. But they also joined in relief that nobody died, many priceless treasures were rescued and the grand Gothic edifice didn’t burn to the ground.
